What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy and counselling are talking therapies where the confidential therapeutic relationship provides a framework in which to explore difficulties and support change.
Psychotherapy offers a reflective space where you can discover your inner strengths and develop your capacity to recover and grow emotionally, both personally and in your relationships.
Issues brought to therapy include anxiety, depression, stress, low confidence, irrational fears, difficulties in social, professional or intimate relationships, recent or past trauma/abuse, bereavement, assertiveness problems, expressing or managing emotions, issues of personal development, and more.
My approach to therapy
In my work as an integrative psychotherapist and supervisor, I take a relational approach which prioritises the quality of the therapeutic or supervisory relationship. I draw on humanistic and psychoanalytic ideas about:
-
Human development
-
Relationships and attachment styles
-
Conscious and unconscious intrapsychic and interpersonal processes
-
Emotional and relational wellbeing
-
Therapeutic processes of healing and growth
-
Intersubjective therapeutic alliance
